How is my 2008 fantsay baseball team?
6.5
Reply:good pitching staff, dont have giffey as starter
Reply:7 on my scale.
I love Joe Mauer, Albert Pujols and B.J Upton in the infield. Ryan Zimmerman is underrated, he's not a bad starter. I don't know about Tejada, but I like Stephen Drew on the bench.
Your outfield leaves something to be desired, might want to get someone for their. They should be able to hold their own though.
Jim Thome is a good utility player, but, he's only that, a utility player. With only 5 bench players you don't want a guy who can only play utility. The bench could also use a little help.
The pitching here is amazing. Josh Beckett and Carlos Zambrano should be aces this season. I don't like Dontrelle Willis, but there's no arguing he gets wins this season. K-Rodm, Accardo and Cordero should be able to make up for the fact that Joba will start in the bullpen. Phil Hughes should be even better than last year and Barry Zito can hardly be worse than last year. Chris Carpenter probably won't pitch for half the season, so you're carrying dead weight on your bench.
You should make the playoffs, but I don't know how far you'll get from there.
Reply:I'd give your team an 8. It's pretty good.
C - Mauer is one of the top catchers. He's great for BA and chips in a few steals.
1B - Pujols is great.
2B - Upton is one of the few 20/20 players at this position. Great choice!
SS - Tejada should have a solid year.
3B - Zimmerman should rebound from a mediocre year.
OF - Here it's pretty weak. Dunn has tons of power, but a really low BA. Griffey is injury-prone and will miss time on the DL. Dye is aging and vulnerable to injury as well.
Util - Again, Thome is aging and injury-prone.
Bench - Burrell has potential to break through this year. He's got good power. Napoli is a good backup, and Drew is a sleeper.
SP - Beckett and Zambrano are two legitimate aces. Dontrelle will also get lots of wins while playing for a potent Tigers offense. Hughes has potential, and Zito is decent.
RP - K-Rod is great, Cordero is good, and Chamberlain will lower your ERA, WHIP, and he's good for K/9 and holds.
I would try to get rid of some of your aging, injury-prone players such as Thome, Dye, Griffey, and possibly Dunn. Trade them for more consistent players. With the way your lineup stands now, you have lots of power, but you lack speed. When trading away these power guys, try and get some speedy OF's back in return.
Hope I helped!
Reply:first off your pitchers are amazing but your offensive people arent the greatest(except mauer, pujols) i mean dunn has 40 HR but a horrible avg. and griffey jr. is getting old and will not be able to produce as well as he has dye is also another bad OF with a bad avg. same goes it thome. What i would do is immidietly drop drew for aaron hill(if available) hill is better in almost evry categorie and i would trade any one of your all star pitcher for either a decent OF with speed and good avg. (suzuki, bearnes, holliday) or a third baseman with power and avg. and stolen bases(wright, chipper jones)
as a whole your team is a 7.5/10 it has solid pitching but their is room for improvement
