I was offered a trade in my first year keeper league. Im giving up Carlos Gomez (Min.) Mark Reynolds (Ari.)?

and Phil Hughes (NYY.) and I'm gettin Vlad Guerrero (LAA.) Jason Bay (Pit.) and Chris Young (SD). What do you think I should do taking the keeper factor into account.

I'd take this deal. You are getting 2 top 100 players (Vlad is a top 30 player) for basically Reynolds and I didn't count Bay as a top 100 player because he hasn't played like one in a while.

You have the chance to get Vlad, who if healthy, can produce 110-33-125-.320-2 which is better than what Reynolds will finish the year with...Just because people start hot, doesn't mean they can substain it for a whole season. I think that Reynolds is this year's J.J. Hardy...he may finish with 33 homers, but runs, RBIs, and batting average will be below Vlads.

I think getting Chris Young for nothing is a great deal for you. His ERA and WHIP are microscopic and 167 Ks last season is pretty good too. Big improvement over Hughes.

Bay for Gomez is like a toss up. Gomez is all speed and he's a decent 3 category guy (runs, steals, average). I think Bay has lost whatever he had in 2005-2006 and his days of hitting 30+ homers are probably gone. He is stealing less bases and hitting for a bad average and basically all his stats are in a decline. There is a chance he will bounce back, which is where his value lies, but I wouldn't put too much hope in him.

Still without counting on much from Bay, I think getting Vlad and Young are worth 3 late picks/waiver picks.
Reply:Don't do it. Bay is a shell of his former self and Vlad is getting up in years and no longer is a serious SB threat.
Reply:I would take this trade now. Reynolds is and will always be too streaky and gomez is just a jose reyes minus about 20-30 steals. You get an all star in vlad, a all star is chris young and jason bay who will rebound eventually. Take the deal.
