Which of these Yankee pitching studs will end up as the best?

1) Phil Hughes - You all know what's up.

2) Joba Chamberlain - #1 pitching prospect in baseball

3) Ian Kennedy - HE was minor league pitcher of the year in 07.

4) Alan Horne - Eastern League pitcher of the year, four plus pitches.

5) Andrew Brackman - Has more upside then maybe any other pitcher in the '07 draft.

6) Humberto "Dirty" Sanchez - Was a top prospect before the injury. Could be a real force if healthy.

7) Delin Betances-Raw but a potential number 1 starter.

8) Jeff Marquez - 15 Wins in '07 - Has "Wang-like" sinker.

9) George Kontos - the Yankees' "Best Kept Secret" (look it up)

10) Jairo Heredia - Ranked 15th best Prospect in the GCL by Baseball America

11) Zach McAllister - Still developing but my breakout prospect for '07. I love this kid.

12) Chris Garcia - Elbow injury cost him all of '07 but in '06 Yankees officials believe Garcia has almost as much upside as Hughes.

13) Ryan Pope - Hardball Times thought he was a steal in the third round

Which of these Yankee pitching studs will end up as the best?
I think Chamberlain and Hughes will make a great 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation for years to come. All these guys have great arms great stuff, but Chamberlain's stuff is electric. He could be Mariano's replacement, or he could be a #1 starter. Plus unlike a lot of the recent Yankees pitchers, he has personality and attitude. He isn't afraid to dust Red Sox hitters, which is what the Red Sox have done to the Yankees for years.

Hughes is only 21, is 6'5" 220, and pitched well last season, even though his leg injuries took something off his fastball. Now that he is healthy he can throw 94-96 with a nasty curve. Chamberlain took away a lot of his thunder, but I think Hughes will be just as good.

Kennedy should be a solid starter for years, but doesn't have quite the stuff of these two.

Brackman is interesting. The Yankees drafted him knowing that he would need Tommy John surgery, so he will miss '08. But he had it early enough so that he can pitch in Instructional League and be ready for next year. He probably won't be ready for 3 years, but I'm sure the Yankees are willing to wait 3 years for a guy who is 6'10" and throws 100 MPH.

As for the gentleman who thinks BRIEN Taylor was a flop, he was not. He was in Double-A just two years out of high school, and pitching 170 innings, and blowing guys away. He hurt his arm in a fight, trying to protect his brother. His career was over, but it wasn't because the Yankees wasted a draft pick on him, but because of a fight.
Reply:probably Chamberlain

BTW, the stud line ends after #2. nobody has 13 young pitching "studs"
Reply:I'm sorry but Kelly+Ian make a point, you do look pissed off, is it because they "killed" you off in X-Men The Last Stand?

My answer is Phil Hughes, he'll be putting up pre-steroid Clemens numbers within the next 3 seasons.
Reply:i think Kennedy
Reply:I have Chamberlain in my keeper rotisserie league, so I'm hoping it's him.

Based on his performance last year, it's hard to envision him being passed by any of the others on your list anytime soon.
Reply:None!! Yankees suck.
Reply:They all suck.......just kidding, thought I'd be a Yankee-hater for a second.

I think it has to be one of those top three, since they all seem like serious blue-chippers. If Joba continues to develop like he has in the past couple of seasons, then he could be amazing. Of the other two, I see Hughes having the best chance to be an ace, but I also believe Kennedy could have a good, sustained career.

It's nice to see someone who's realistic that not everyone on the list will turn out to be a great pitcher. These things are always unpredictable, especially with arms, so you know some are going to fall by the wayside. Still, it's a very nice group, and there should be 5-6 solid major league careers that come out of that list.
Reply:Hughes is the best. Chamberlain will prove more valuable in the bullpen.
Reply:Hughes, its hughes.. in 2 years, he will be winning 20 games and a threat for Cy young and the Yankees Ace. HUUUGGGHHHHEEESSSSSSS
Reply:I've seen Chamberlain pitch here in spring training (and Kennedy) and watched Chamberlain close up when I had a bullpen seat last fall. I'd put money on him, but I'm also a Red Sox fan, ya know?
Reply:Why does it matter? They will just choke in the post season or be traded for some all-star who will choke in the post season.
Reply:I think that Chamberlain will be a good closer for many years to come. I am glad they didn't trade Hughes away because I think he is going to be a great starter and possibly an ace.
Reply:Hopefully none (redsox fan) but most likley Joba Chamberlain
Reply:Joba has legendary potenial, if he can stay healthy he will be an all star for years to come. hughes is too wild, but it think he can fix that, kennedy has gone on a start but he's still unproven.
Reply:Joba Chamberlain.
Reply:none of the above

is that guys nickname really "dirty sanchez" that's disgusting
Reply:Joba will, hands down.
Reply:joba
Reply:Phil Hughes

Joba Chamberlain

Ian Kennedy
Reply:I thought that a stud was an male use for procreation. Thereon, it should be a full developed, mature male.I only see promising "colts" on that list and in my opinion the best Yankee pitchers since Ron Guidry and Pettite has been adquire by them already "broke" and with a Star status already earned. It will be intersting to watch how this young guys deal with the pressure of the Steinbrenners.
Reply:a tie btwn Hughes and Kennedy!
Reply:jaba chamberlin this guy throws heat and it looks like he barely throws it. by the way yankees suck go redsox
Reply:Well professor x if you really wanna know why don't you just read my mind.

Anyways i like the 3 big guy, ike joba and hughes. Of them ill put my money on hughes. He was pitching way better than joba early on before he got injured and i imagine with some experience hes gonna be pretty sick. jobas second and i think ian has a total of 2 starts so its wait and see for him.

of the rest of the guys u should probably expect the yanks to trade some of them later on but i hope they keep Horne, i still thinks hes got great potential.

what still cant read my mind, don't worry man magneto's a friend of mine.
Reply:That list certainly bodes well for the Yankee future. (Of course, Brian Taylor was supposed to be an absolute sure thing a few years back. Now he's flipping burgers somewhere, so you never know.)

Anyway, I know Hughes and Kennedy are going to be big-league stars for many years, but if you want me to pick one, I have to go with the guy whose name and number are on the back of the T-shirt I happen to be wearing at this moment under my work clothes: CHAMBERLAIN 62
Reply:Sorry, I love The Boston Red Sox. So I cant help ya here. good luck though.
